CheatCodes - Don't be scared of failure, 7 lessons from Rockefeller, and how self image is key

Make the mistake, don't be scared of failure.

"Better to jump and make a mistake than to sit there too frightened to move."

A mistake does not equal failure.

Fear equals failure.

When you make a mistake you come away with a lesson.

You learned something.

You now know what not to do in the future, and sometimes that is just as valuable as knowing what you should do.

However, when you sit there frightened, scared of failure, you learn nothing.

All that happens is you get stuck in a cycle of "I want to be better" -> "I'm too scared to try."

The tax this has on your mental is so high that it only makes things harder with each cycle.

So take the leap.

Try that idea.

Go to the gym for the first time.

Meet that person.

I promise you, whatever the outcome, you'll be in a better position than before.

7 lessons from John D Rockefeller

I read "Rockefellers 38 letters to his son" a little while ago and the teachings fundamentally changed how I think, act, and talk.

Here are 7 of his best lessons:

  1. Successful people are just ordinary people who believe in themselves and affirm what they do.

  2. To succeed you must strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success.

  3. Only by being able to endure what people cannot bear, can you do what people cannot do.

  4. A person must always have goals, otherwise they are like a ship without a rudder.

  5. Too many people overestimate what they lack, but underestimate what they have, and lose the chance to become a winner.

  6. Doing small things is the cornerstone of making big things. Plan big, act small.

  7. Anything can happen in this world, but nothing can happen without doing anything.

7 incredibly simple, yet profound lessons that anybody can use.

I recommend you use them.

Self image is the key.

This excerpt is from the book "Psycho-cybernetics" by Maxwell Maltz.

How you view yourself today, is the person you become tomorrow.

This is because how you view yourself changes how you act.

So, if you view yourself as a successful business owner, you will start acting like a successful business owner.

You'll make calls, arrange deals, build products, hire great people, and so on.

The result is that, with enough of these actions, you will become the person you once viewed yourself to be.

You mentality shapes your actions. Your actions shape your outcomes.

See yourself as the person you wish to be.

Soon enough you'll start acting like them, and then one day you'll look around and say "wait, I am actually THAT person."

Super simple perspective shift that can yield you results you used to dream of.
