CheatCodes: Hitting new goals, How to hire better, and committing to something

How to hit new goals

“New goals require different habits. Remember that.”

Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results is the definition of insanity.

To make change you have to be the change.

There are no shortcuts.

How to hire better

Do not hope hire.

One mistake I see a lot of entrepreneurs make - and I still make this even now (!!) is “hope hiring”

This is by far the biggest reason why small businesses stay small and never quite make the leap.

Hope hiring is when you hire someone and just expect them to get stuff done.

For example, you’re not driving enough sales so you hire a Head of Sales because “they can fix it”

The better thing to do is to sketch out what your sales process is and where the leaky bucket is.

It takes longer but you end up ensuring that the person you hire is focused on the main reason you hired them for.

It also has the benefit of you knowing what good looks like and more importantly what bad looks like.

Otherwise you end up hiring someone, they think they’re doing a good job when actually they aren’t.

Or more frequently, neither of you are really sure what good looks like so you just hope that the sales goes up to the right in a few months time.

Document before you hire.

Resist the urge to hope hire.

It can be the difference between you staying small and becoming the giant you want to be.

Commit to anything, anything at all.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

This book excerpt is from a book called “How To Live" by Derek Sivers

People don’t fail by choosing the wrong path, they fail by not choosing.

Commit to something .

Anything at all.

Keep Winning!
