Cheatcodes: Choosing Peace, Getting closer to revenue, and why it's not about how hard you work

How to reliably hit your goals:

"Focus on the process. Not the goal."

Don’t say…”I want to make $10k a month”

Say.. “I am the most consistent person i know and each day I work on the things that get me to my goal”

Build you identity around your inputs.

The things you can control.

The outputs will follow.

How to get PR for your business:

When I ran my last company, we were featured in 190 publications including BBC, Forbes and Bloomberg.

We never worked with a PR agency, it was always them coming to us.

We did this using what I call the PR Pyramid.

Before we go in, here’s a big thing I want you to get into your brain.

If you take anything away from this email, it’s this.

When you want a PR feature, they first google you and see if you’ve written elsewhere.

You need to show that you’re a fast-rising story because they know they'll get more traffic if they write about you.

So how do you do that, you start local, then regional, then national.

Start local - reach out to local media and tell a story. For example, my first ever PR story was in the South London Press about me starting a business.

Regional - once you’ve got 2 local stories, then you go regional. The sell to journalists here isn’t about a local person doing well. It’s more a story on an industry trend with you being the figurehead.

In my case, it was the rise of influencers and the role Fanbytes was playing in it.

Do this for 3-5 stories.

National - if you’ve done the above well, these will organically start to come to you. You’re seen as a thought leader and you have momentum which makes you a talking point.

And once you have a national publication like BBC write about you, all the others come in.

Journalists are great but have so many deadlines that they tend to write about what’s already popular.

I’ve had this happen so many times I’ve lost count, It’s frankly strange how repeatable it is.

Now you know the playbook, lets get to work.

How to become disciplined:

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

From "The Entrepreneurs Guide To Getting Their Shit Together" - By John Carlton.

We’re so conditioned to feel like we need to do everything, everytime.

This approach is a reminder to just take it one step at a time.

That’s all for today. If this helps at least one person then it’s done its job.

Keep winning,

Timo
