How to charge more for your services.

When I started my last company, our average deal size was £3000.

When we sold it, we were closing £1,000,000 deals.

How?

Sure having good case studies helped but the main thing was that we took on more of “the thinking work”?

When you run any sort of services business, you can easily get caught in just doing the work the customer asked.

They say jump and you reply how high.

The problem with that is that you’ll completely get stuck in the world of implementation.

You will only get what the customer wants to give you.

This was how we ended up just doing small campaigns.

Customer would say they want to do an influencer campaign and all we did was find the influencers.

Until one day, we changed our approach and started charging for strategy...for the thinking work.

Rather than clients asking for an influencer campaign and us just finding them influencers, we would strategise on how this fit in with their global marketing plans.

We would spend time with them understanding their social calendar and how influencers amplified key moments.

By the end of it, we’d have decided

  • What success looks like.

  • What products should be pushed.

  • What the brief should be.

We defined the solution AND then we implemented the solution.

From then, people were willing to give us bigger budgets because we were doing their thinking for them AS WELL AS the implementation.

Because here is the ugly truth...anyone with half a brain can jump but few people can decide where to jump.

Life gets way more powerful when you decide to do something and not just want it.

Look at your goals and then look at your actions.

Are they wants or are they decisions?

Decide what you want and go get it.
